Cardinal and a sparrow chowing down.

Beautiful cardinal with a ruffled comb.

A prim female Rose-Breasted Grossbeak

Male Downy Woodpecker having at the nuts.

I had to whittle this hole a little bigger to fit in here, but it serves me fine now.

A fine spot I have picked for this cool fall. What a view!

What is that over there?

This is a nice neighborhood.

Wow, what a nice roof!

Mom and offspring feeding at the nuts

This is a video form August 2009 in which I was able to catch a Red Bellied Woodpecker that frequents the neighborhood feeding one of its offspring. In an earlier post you were able to see the offspring eating alone at the nut feeder.

The Deck is coming soon!

The first picture gives you and idea of what the pre-deck area looked like. Then the progress thus far with about 2/3 of the flooring installed and still to come the railings and ramps to allow Jane to more easily access the back yard with her scooter.

Blue Jays a plenty

For a day or two the Blue Jays seemed to dominate the back yard. They can be ornery but these just seemed to want to eat and drink before moving on to another destination. As you can see their coloring is bright and beautiful and nothing like their song and high pitched screeching.
